Our theme for 2023: Behold, I make all things New!
At the heart of our life in Christ is a call to ‘BEHOLD’.
To ‘behold’ means more than just to look or to see – it means to gaze contemplatively, without grasping or possessing, in poverty and wonder. In the Book of Revelation Christ calls to us: ‘BEHOLD: I make all things New!’ (Rev 21:5). For Christ has made all things new!
Our Faith assures us that through Baptism we have been transformed and made New, however, each day we need to battle to behold all things in the Newness of Christ.
When we contemplate Christ, we learn to behold who we are in Christ’s own gaze (in our deepest identity, seeing both our misery and our glory) and we learn to recognise Christ at work in the littlest things in our lives.
Learning to ‘behold’ will awaken us to joy, to hope, and to the Newness of life he has promised us.
BEHOLD, Christ has indeed made all things New!
